Faculty Honoraria and Travel Expense Reimbursement Policies
Honoraria
Non-Member Faculty (Speakers)M.D. & D.O. faculty who are not members of ACOS may receive an honorarium of $1000.00 per day the speaker presents a lecture.
ACOS Member Faculty (Speakers)ACOS member speakers will not receive an honorarium from the ACOS unless the ACA receives commercial support for their participation. The Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery Discipline, General Surgery Discipline, and the Urological Surgery Discipline have elected to pay member speakers a $500 honorarium from discipline funds.
Reimbursement of Travel Expenses
Non-member speakersNon-member speakers may receive reimbursement for round-trip coach air transportation to and from the site of the meeting. Local speakers may receive mileage for their cars at the current IRS approved rate for mileage reimbursement.
Parking and taxi/rideshare faresParking and taxi/rideshare fares may be reimbursed. Limousine or sedan services will not be reimbursed.
Hotel, meals, and incidentalsACOS non-member speakers may be reimbursed up to $400.00 (estimated amount based on previous meetings) for their actual expenses for each day that they appear on the program for hotel, meals, and incidentals. Completion of a reimbursement form and receipts are required for reimbursement of all speaker travel expenses.
ACOS Member SpeakersSpeakers who are ACOS members do not receive any ACOS/ACA reimbursement of travel expenses unless the ACA receives commercial support for their participation.
