Dr. Manju Chandra is the Director of Pediatric Nephrology and Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at New York University Grossman Long Island School of Medicine, Mineola, NY. She trained in pediatric nephrology at the New York Hospital -Cornell University Medical Center from 1974-76. Earlier, she was the valedictorian of her medical school class in India and had received the President of India Medal for being the most well-rounded woman medical student. Dr. Chandra is recognized internationally for her distinguished work in the field of pediatric nephrology as an educator, innovator and leader. She served on the executive committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics and on the Editorial Board of the American Academy of Pediatrics' – Pediatrics in Review Program for nephrology, each for 6 years. She has promoted use of Point of Care renal sonography in office practice to enhance patient care and twice organized two days, hands on workshops on "Ultrasonography for the Nephrologists". She is internationally known for her seminal papers in the field of pediatric voiding dysfunction, urinary tract infections and urodynamic testing. Dr. Chandra's emerging interest is in understanding the role of gut microbiome in health and disease. She has published a seminal paper on how dysbiosis, i. E. The lack of acquisition of a diverse and abundant symbiotic gut flora during infancy may contribute to the rising incidence and prevalence of non- communicable chronic diseases in the USA., She has received several recognitions as an exceptional and engaging educator, and we are delighted to have her as our speaker.
