Dr. Lovkesh Arora is a Clinical Professor in Department of Anesthesia, Carver College of Medicine, at University of Iowa Health Care (UIHC) in Iowa City, where he also serves as the Medical Director of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program in the Heart & Vascular Center. He is board certified in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Dr Arora completed his anesthesiology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, and fellowships in Critical Care Medicine and Solid Organ Transplant Anesthesia from the University of Miami in Florida. With extensive training and expertise in Critical Care Medicine and ECMO, Dr. Arora has significantly contributed to the development of ECMO training programs, as well as the management of cardiovascular and respiratory failure in critically ill patients. He has played an instrumental role in advancing ECMO practices at the University of Iowa, earning multiple ELSO (Extracorporeal Life Support Organization) Awards, including the prestigious Platinum Level for Excellence in Life Support. Dr. Arora is also a recognized leader in critical care education, regularly lecturing and mentoring residents, fellows, and healthcare professionals in the latest ECMO techniques and cardiovascular critical care management. His academic contributions are extensive, with peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and abstracts on ECMO, critical care, and anesthesia, alongside active participation in national and international conferences. Dr. Arora's involvement in professional organizations such as the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists underscores his commitment to improving critical care practices globally. His leadership extends to mentoring, overseeing clinical rotations, and contributing to the broader field through his service on key professional committees.
