Amelia Tower, DO, FACOS, FACS is a Fellowship-trained and Board-Certified Breast Surgical Oncologist at Breast Associates of Texas in Fort Worth, Texas. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from A. T. Still University and completed her General Surgery Residency at UNTHSC-Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth, followed by fellowship training in Breast Surgical Oncology at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Tower has held positions as Associate Professor of Surgery at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine and Texas Christian University School of Medicine, and she launched the first Texas Health Resources General Surgery Residency where she served as Program Director. Currently, she is the Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs-Transition to Residency and Associate Professor of Medical Education at Texas A&M University College of Medicine. As a healthcare leader, Dr. Tower has built a reputation for initiating and restructuring successful Breast Surgical Oncology programs at several hospitals in DFW. She has served as Medical Director of the Breast Programs at JPS and THR-Harris Methodist Hospital, achieving the distinction of a breast center of excellence. Dr. Tower is a Fellow of both the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons, and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Society of Surgical Oncology. Dr. Tower has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, surgical textbooks, and presented her research at national conferences. She has served as a key opinion leader for biotechnology firms, refining surgical techniques and equipment and was the first surgeon globally to commercially use FDA-approved advanced imaging technology for intraoperative margin assessment during breast cancer surgeries. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her husband and active sons, Huxley and Hobbes, fishing, reading, and attending sporting activities.
