Vincent S. Alexander is a fourth-year medical student at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, applying to General Surgery. He is the co-founder and co-chair of the Osteopathic Research Initiative for Growth and Innovation in Surgery (ORIGINS), which has paired more than fifty students with principal investigators across the country, leading to multiple peer-reviewed publications, national presentations, and long-term mentorship opportunities. Vincent has authored and co-authored more than a dozen peer-reviewed manuscripts, including work on surgical workforce distribution, mentorship, and innovations in cardiac transplantation, such as partial heart transplantation. He has presented at national conferences including the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and the Association for Program Directors in Surgery. In addition to his research, Vincent has been actively involved in leadership and medical education. He helped establish mentorship and fellowship programs within ACOS, served as a Primary Clinical Skills/Simulation Fellow at his institution, and created teaching resources for medical students preparing for clinical clerkships and board exams. Originally from Tampa, Florida, Vincent is passionate about giving back to his community and volunteers regularly with Ashford Rescue and Metropolitan Ministries, where he was once a resident as a child. Outside of medicine, he enjoys strength training, CrossFit, rugby, rowing, golf, and exploring outdoor activities.
