Dr. Eric Smith, a native of Ashland, Kentucky, is a board-certified general and bariatric surgeon specializing in advanced laparoscopic and minimally invasive robotic surgery. A graduate of Marshall University (B.S. Biology, Cum Laude) and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, he completed his surgical residency at Grandview Medical Center, where he served as chief resident for two years.
Currently, Dr. Smith is Chief of Surgery and Medical Director of the Bariatric Program at Georgetown Community Hospital, where he leads Kentucky’s only Mentor Case Observation site for robotic bariatric and general surgery. With over 2,000 robotic cases performed, he is the state’s highest-volume robotic surgeon. He is also a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Association.
